Story 12 Injectable generic Gravol, Lasix, Zantac

As of February 22, following the newly announced slow downs at Sandoz’s plant in Boucherville, Quebec, hospital pharmacies were notified of potential shortages in 250 items, most generic injectables, including dimenhydrinate, furosemide, and ranitidine. Some products will be discontinued.

Stocks are low. Pharmacies are calling each other with requests for purchasing and sharing. Current plans include rationing and hoarding.

The Boucherville slow down stems from the need to bring manufacturing facilities up to new FDA standards.
